WebHancer removal instructions:

Its purpose, according to the WebHancer website:
WebHancer Customer Companion resides on the end-user's computer, where it transparently
monitors Internet performance. WebHancer measures overall network latency/site delay that
is experienced by actual end-users.

Infection method:
Most folks do not knowingly install WebHancer. Generally, it is the negative system side-effects
or unusual data transfers from your machine that clue you in to its presence. Like MarketScore,
it is spyware that usually comes bundled with a completely unrelated product. This, in part, has
prompted several individuals to lovingly refer to this program as "WebCancer".

Removal Procedures:
Attempting to manually remove WebHancer related files will cause your system to lose its
ability to connect to the Internet. WebHancer modifies your Windows Sockets configuration,
binding itself to Winsock so that all packets are passed through WebHancer.

WebHancer's suggested removal method is to make sure WebHancer is still installed properly,
then remove it using the standard Windows "Add/Remove Programs" feature in your Control
Panel. This is described at the bottom of WebHancer's installation page. If you have already
deleted some of the WebHancer components, the company suggests that you download their
Customer Companion (or get a friend to download it, due to the connectivity problems you're
probably having now), fully install it, and then use the "Add/Remove Programs" feature in your
Control Panel to uninstall it.

WebHancer can also be safely removed using reputable pest-removal software. My personal
favorite of these would be SpyBot Search & Destroy.
